Accessibility at ShiftMap

ShiftMap is working to make the site usable for as many workers and employers as possible. If something is difficult to use with a keyboard, screen reader, mobile device, or other assistive technology, please contact us so we can review it.

Our commitment

We aim to follow widely accepted accessibility practices, including reasonable color contrast, visible focus indicators, accessible form labels, and keyboard support for core actions like searching for jobs, viewing a listing, and reporting a listing.

ShiftMap has not completed a formal third-party WCAG audit. We do not claim full WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 conformance. We treat accessibility as ongoing work and welcome feedback.

Current accessibility goals

  • Keyboard access to job and talent listings, filters, and apply/reveal actions.
  • Visible labels and clear error messages on forms.
  • Accessible names on icon-only buttons.
  • Mobile layouts that do not require horizontal scrolling on common phone widths.
  • List-based browsing as an alternative to the map.

Known limitations

  • The map view is primarily visual. A list view of the same listings is available and fully usable without the map.
  • Some third-party content (such as map tiles and external apply links) follows the accessibility of those providers, which we do not control.
  • Screen reader announcements for live filter changes are still being improved.

Keyboard navigation

Core flows — browsing listings, opening a listing detail page, revealing employer contact, applying, and reporting a listing — are designed to be reachable with a keyboard. If you find a control that traps focus or cannot be reached without a mouse, please report it.

Mobile support

ShiftMap is built mobile-first and is tested on common phone widths (around 375px and up). The list view is intended to remain usable when the map is hard to use on a small screen.

Report an accessibility issue

If something on ShiftMap is hard to use with a keyboard, screen reader, mobile device, or other assistive technology, please tell us. Include the page URL, what you were trying to do, and what went wrong.

A dedicated accessibility inbox (accessibility@shiftmap.app) will be added soon. Until then, please use the options on the contact page, or the "Report inaccurate listing" link on any listing detail page.

This statement reflects ShiftMap's current accessibility posture and will be updated as the product evolves.
